Fantastic Monday arrives again, and for it we will again dive into the vast wells of our imagination.
Today, our prompt has to do with journeys. You can decide to lean towards fantasy or the mundane, micro-fiction or the seeds of a novel, the details are up to you! Many of our most famous epics are about journeys, like The Odyssey or Lord of the Rings.
“Journey Before Destination”
Yes, I adore Sanderson and the Stormlight Archive.
Before a character arrives somewhere, they have to do the getting there. Write about it. Is Susie on road trip? Is Imphyria on a grand journey through the vast wildernesses to save the elven kingdom?
Challenge yourself to write this journey (or a piece of it) without explicitly mentioning the destination. How does that change the journey? Focus on the experiences of this travel—what the character is feeling, what obstacles or challenges they encounter, the everyday hardships of being on the road, etc.
