For Mondays, we will be focusing on fiction!
This first Monday together, we will be working on a prompt from Janet Burroway’s Imaginative Writing. Get those imaginative juices flowing! You can go off into the surreal and fantastical, or stay in the realm of realistic fiction, up to you.

“All of the following are the opening lines of published short stories, some of them famous. Pick one and use it to write the first few paragraphs of a story. Write fast.
- My classroom was on the first, next to the nun’s lounge.
- She stood with her black face some six inches from moist window-pane and wondered when on earth it would ever stop raining.
- Foreman likes to hoist the new ones up, see what they’re made of.
- There had been some discussion of death.
- It was Sunday–not a day but rather a gap between two other days.”
