Sundays, we will dedicate to verse. Let’s awaken our inner poets! Some prompts will focus on one form of verse or another – rhymes and iambs and all that – while others it will be up to you.
If there is a specific element of technique I want you to try, I’ll explain it and/or link some descriptions and examples.
The Ode/Eulogy
In honor of one of my favorite poets, Ross Gay, and his book Catalog of Unabashed Gratitude, our first poetry prompt is to write a poem that is both an ode, and a eulogy. Now this doesn’t need to be a literal eulogy, it can just be concerning itself with grief or loss, just as the ode portion need only concern itself with joy or praise.
